Deutsche Bank - Transition to Microservices
As one of the largest banks in Germany, digitalization plays a particularly important role for Deutsche Bank. However, the FinTech sector in particular places high demands on reliability and security. With millions of transactions every day, both security and the constant availability of the relevant IT infrastructure are crucial. In addition, many access points are offered, such as online banking (PSD2) or banking apps.
Insights into the complex Microservice Infrastructure
As part of the MINT-EC program, the infrastructure of Deutsche Bank was explained to us. A particular focus was on the transformation from a monolithic system to a microservice architecture. Our speaker also gave us an insight into the development of the remittance process. It was very surprising for me to see how much data actually has to be stored for a single transaction in order to guarantee security.
In the subsequent practical exercise, we were asked to implement and document a microservice according to a given specification. This project was very exciting for me, as it made the current industry trend around cloud infrastructure tangible. Overall, the program at Deutsche Bank was a very informative and interesting experience that will certainly be useful to me in the future.
